This English Actor’s Manhattan Condo Is Up for Grabs
If real estate is your current obsession, this should get you going. This three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment at the north end of Midtown East was once owned by the legendary Dame Joan Collins and still has the shine of Hollywood glamour.
So much so, in fact, that the real estate agent charged with selling it nods to another classic star, with a Dita Von Teese quote: "Glamour isn't about age, shape or size...anyone can create it.” If you’ve got the money to snap up an apartment like this, that is.
The post-war apartment, known as a condo in New York, offers windows on three sides and an enormous living and dining room. Two generous master bedrooms sit at opposite ends of the space, with a third bedroom that could also be used as an office or playroom. In addition to the three bathrooms, there are also sixteen closets—we guess a star actor like Dame Collins needs a lot of storage space.
The real estate also suggests the kitchen (which is currently nothing to write home about, honestly) could be expanded, and that an internal laundry could be added (essential in our opinion).
The building itself, built in 1957, is called the Dorchester, and it sits at 110 East 57th Street, between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue. Nearby stores include Bloomingdales, Zara, Tiffany, and Bergdorf Goodman. Central Park, theatres, restaurants and spas are all within walking distance.
The building bills itself as a white-glove co-op building—which means doormen waiting to let you in—that also has a fitness centre, parking garage, elevator and a restaurant. Maid service can be arranged if you so choose. The building board is also at pains to alert you to the fact that pieds-a-terre are allowed and pets are permitted subject to approval.
A contract has been signed, but if it’s not sold yet so if you’ve got $2,750,00 floating around, you might still be in with a chance.
On the other side of the states, Angelina Jolie’s California estate is truly dream-worthy.
