If you’re into fashion, streetwear, or sneakers in general, odds are you’ve heard of Golden Goose.

A favourite amongst celebs worldwide, Golden Goose has been seen on some of the most inspiring fashion girls around: Selena Gomez, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Taylor Swift, and Olivia Palermo are just a few of many who’ve been known to rock the retro-style kicks.

While Golden Goose has had a stronghold in the fashion world for years, the 2021 Tokyo Olympics has just proven the brand to be equally worthy of runways and sporting arenas alike. Ahead of the Olympic games, the luxury Italian brand partnered with US skateboarder Cory Juneau to collaborate on an exclusive collection that embodied the skater’s values, as well as the brand’s.

At the skateboarding finals in Tokyo, Juneau won the bronze medal, decked out in a pair of Golden Goose’s Ball star Pro Sneakers. While the brand has been a well-known name in fashion, we have a feeling this marks a new era and audience for Golden Goose in the world of athletics. According to WWD, “Juneau’s partnership with Golden Goose for the Olympic Games marked the first time the Italian brand, which is known for its intentionally distressed luxury sneakers, teamed up with an athlete.”

Star skater or not, it’s easy to see why Golden Goose’s sneakers are so appealing. They’re casual but cute. Laid-back, but still classy. They come pre-distressed, so from day one, they’ve got that effortless appeal. On top of their fashion-forward aesthetic, Golden Goose sneakers are famously known to be super-comfortable straight out of the box.

For years, fashion bloggers have been singing praises of the brand, claiming that the style and comfort they provide makes these flashy sneakers worth the price tag. Now, we are sure we’ll start to see the same commentary from sports stars, with Juneau already giving the nod of approval.

Though the direction the brand has taken differs drastically from the brand’s fashion blog notoriety, we have a feeling that it just might be one of the best promotions the brand has ever seen. Golden Goose already has the hearts of the fashion world, so gaining new exposure through athletics seems like a pretty smart move.

With the brand’s classic Superstar leather sneaker ringing in at $660, these are undeniably high-end shoes. Given the luxury reputation and visibility on the worldwide sporting stage, though, odds are that a spike in sales for Golden Goose is just around the corner. If nothing else, Juneau has proven the shoes to be both worthy in form and function.

Athlete or not, it’s good to know that sneakers with this price tag are also worthy of winning medals.
