This Sustainable Dinner Series is Coming To Sydney in May
With Earth Day recently behind us, you might be thinking more about how you can minimise your impact on our planet.
While it might seem like a daunting prospect to live more sustainably, small changes to daily life can be a great place to start. Composting food waste, walking or biking to work, and shopping from brands with sustainable values are great ways to reduce your personal footprint.
The good news is that there are businesses across every industry striving to uphold a standard of sustainability. From running shoes to luxury gym equipment, brands are zeroing in on production, distribution, and packaging to make their products more eco-friendly.
And it’s not just physical products focusing on these aspects anymore. Increasingly, the dialogue of sustainability is seeping into the hospitality industry — and rightfully so. As diners are becoming more attuned to where restaurants procure their produce and the negative impacts of transporting food over great distances, the expectation is shifting.
While Sydneysiders are no strangers to the concept of sustainable dining, the options for doing so are undeniably limited. While our city does boast some names leading the charge — Josh Niland and Matt Moran, to name a few — it’s nevertheless difficult to know whether your favourite restaurant has a sustainable focus.
A new dinner series at the iconic Finger Wharf is changing that.
Housed inside the Ovolo hotel, Alibi Bar & Kitchen is taking conscious cuisine to the next level.
Alibi Bar & Kitchen’s Sustainable Dinner Series
For two exclusive dinners in May, Alibi has partnered up with Diplomático rum to dish up a delightful plant-based banquet menu that will tickle your taste buds without wreaking havoc on the environment.
With the Ovolo hotel group’s passion for vegetarian-led cooking and Diplomático’s commitment to sustainable distilling, it only makes sense that the two brands would partner up. From a diner’s perspective, the match couldn’t be better as the five-course menu is punctuated by fruit-forward rum cocktails.
What You Get
In addition to the bespoke degustation menu, the sustainable dinner series also provides an opportunity to dip your toes in the waters of Diplomático.
As you dine on produce-centred dishes, your meal will be paired with three separate rum cocktails expertly crafted to complement the meal. As a bonus, you’ll also get a Canima gin cocktail and be one of the first to sample the brand’s gin before it becomes commonplace in the Australian market.
To round out the evening, world-renowned bartender, Sai Hamsala, will lead a rum tasting to open your mind and palate to the world of fine rum.
