These Dresses Make Transitioning From Summer to Autumn so Easy

Autumn is upon us, which means it’s time to cycle out our summer wardrobe for our cooler-weather staples. This classic vintage tea dress has flutter sleeves, a demure V neck, and an empire waistline, along with an ankle-length skirt cut on the bias.
In summer, you can wear this dress with flat sandals, or thin-strapped heels if you’re a bit shorter and want to give yourself some height. A straw hat, fine jewellery and a wide belt are optional extras to add colour and interest.
As the weather cools, a cropped denim jacket should see you through dips in the evenings’ temperature, but for consistently cool days, layer a fine turtleneck in a complementary colour under the dress and add ankle boots. As the mercury drops, cropped jackets will keep you warm, or layer the dress with a white turtleneck or crew neck sweater in a fine fabric like merino. Designed for summer, this dress can be worn over a swimsuit at the beach or poolside, with a pair of casual beach sandals and a wide-brimmed straw hat, but it will just as easily take you to the bar when paired with low heels and a pair of statement-making earrings.
In early autumn, slip it on over a plain white crew neck, then swap to a top with longer sleeves—white is good, or choose one in one of the colours in the print. For warmer footwear, white sneakers will do for a casual event (pair with a denim jacket), or ankle boots and a leather jacket to be a bit dressier.
