Turns Out Bugatti Cars Can Race Fighter Jets
One word comes to mind when thinking of Bugatti: Speed.
Last month, the French high-performance luxury car maker released a short film displaying just what the limited-edition Bugatti Chiron Sport Les Légendes du Ciel is made of.
The film shows the slick Chiron Sport pitted against a Dassault Rafale Marine fighter jet, putting the pedal to the metal in an epic runway drag race. The pairing is fitting given Bugatti’s close associations with aviation since the company was established over a century ago. Chiron Sport Les Légendes du Ciel, translated as ‘legends of the sky’, is a dedication to the famous racing drivers from the last century, many of whom were former flying aces and pilots for the French Air Force.
Bugatti Chiron Sport Vs Fighter Jet
Aviation elements have been carefully woven into all parts of Les Légendes du Ciel. Features including matt-grey “Gris Serpent'' paintwork—reminiscent of 1920s aircraft; “Gaucho” light brown leather interior; a glass roof “Sky View” and a hand-sketched racing scene between the Bugatti Type 13 and Nieuport 17, both of which inspired the limited-edition vehicle.
But under the hood is where the real magic lies. “The Chiron Sport ‘Les Légendes du Ciel’ with a W16 engine and a capacity of 8.0 litres delivers 1,500 PS and 1,600-newton metres of torque,” reaching a maximum speed of 420km/h. The car is one of the most powerful on the market, with acceleration to match—leaping from 0 to 63 mph in just 2.4 seconds.
You may have a hard time getting your hands on this special edition of the Chiron Sport as only 20 vehicles were put into production with a price tag of over $4.5 million.
