This Caviar Infused Cocktail is Over-The-Top Luxury
This recipe is part of our premium cocktail recipe series:
By now, hopefully, you’ve tracked down at least one of our recommended premium spirits and had the chance to craft a truly incredible quaff. From here on out, this series is going to blaze ahead of our premium spirits list and feature incredible hand-selected distillates from around the world, and imaginative mixes you can use them in.
This week’s premium spirit sits at the pinnacle of Old-World luxury: L’Orbe Vodka X Caviar. Luxury beverage house Pernod Ricard has created something entirely new with this premium product, combining the refined artisanship of single-estate Polish Diamond rye vodka with the rare delicacy of Royal Baeri caviar. The result is a unique spirit with unmatched subtlety and sophistication, so a simple and elegant cocktail like the classic Gimlet is the perfect place for it to take centre stage.
Like so many other cocktails in our premium cocktail series, we can thank sheer necessity and simple genius for this refreshing quaff. Originally a standard tonic in the British navy, the classic gimlet once warmed the souls of many a sailor-long-at-sea while protecting them from the ravages of malnourishment and scurvy. And although in this day, the gimlet is considered more a luxury than a staple (much to our dismay), it can still be found on the front pages of cocktail menus the world over and comes in a huge array of styles and variations.
This gimlet variation swaps out the traditional Plymouth gin for the smooth and luxurious L’Orbe Vodka X Caviar. The subtle, buttery sweetness and nut undertones of this vodka match superbly well with the bright and zesty lime juice base of the gimlet, while the gentle salinity of the infused caviar ensures a fresh and balanced aftertaste.
While the gimlet is likely most often made with fresh lime juice and simple syrup, if you can get your hands on a bottle of Rose’s Lime Juice Cordial, you’ll be a step closer to recreating the classic cocktail as it was originally intended. Pure refreshing bliss!
