I’m Booking This Desert Glamping As Soon As Travel Bans Lift

It is said that Africa has a certain magic about it. Throw in a mountainous desert landscape, wooded river valleys, rich wildlife and luxury accommodation, and you will be transported somewhere extraordinary.

Safari getaways have been taken to another level in the form of Onduli Ridge, located in the heart of Damaraland in Namibia. The camp, named after the resident giraffe, sits at the base of two south-facing granite outcrops and overlooks Namibia’s highest mountain, the Brandberg, to the south and cathedral-like granite inselbergs to the north.

Onduli Ridge Camps

The desert camp is home to six luxurious suites nestled in majestic granite boulders. Fear not, as every creature comfort is available with a plush king-sized bed, partially open-air bathroom, hot running water shower, flush toilet and Wifi.

Each suite blends into its natural surroundings and enjoys idyllic desert and mountain views. And as the sun sets, beds can be rolled onto a spacious private deck where stargazing is a must.

The fully inclusive camp is 100% solar-powered and complete with an infinity pool, spacious communal lounge with library, dining room, bar, campfire circle and deck. Visitors can enjoy artisan coffee to start their day of activities and crafted pizza in the evenings.

The Location

The camp is located on a private concession in the Doro !Nawas Conservancy—just 20 minutes away from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein.

With its rugged terrain, winding rivers and sparse savannahs, it must be one of the most breathtaking African landscapes. This unique camp is home to a variety of wildlife, including

the desert-adapted black rhino, elephant, and predators such as cheetah, leopard, lion, spotted and brown hyena.

Luxury Glamping Activities

The luxury camp offers several unique and adventurous experiences, from game drives and nature walks to solar e-biking and black rhino and elephant tracking.

The safaris on offer go far beyond any conventional safari. With a highly knowledgeable naturalist guide, visitors have the option to explore the incredible geology, desert and wildlife by private safari vehicle, mountain bike or on foot. Also on offer are VIP or Fly-in safaris which allow visitors to observe the vast landscapes, rolling sunset coloured sand dunes, river valleys and mountains from above.

If you are a nature and adventure lover, why not check out some of the world’s most luxurious treehouse getaways.
