Ryan Reynolds’ Gin Is Finally Coming to Australia, and It’s Perfect for Cocktails

You might know him as Wade Wilson from Deadpool, Andrew Paxton from The Proposal, or perhaps as the husband to the always-chic Blake Lively— but Ryan Reynolds has been making a name for himself outside of Hollywood for a few years now.
How so? With Aviation Gin, a ‘Western style’ gin that eases up on the juniper and brings citrus to the forefront.
The actor, who has always been a fan of Aviation Gin, acquired an ownership stake of the brand back in 2018, and lucky for us, it’s finally making its way down under. If Reynolds’ judgement is to be trusted, we’re in for something great.
“It’s no secret that I love Aviation Gin,” says Reynolds. “I’ve tried every gin on the planet and it is, hands down, the best. Also I don’t recommend trying every gin on the planet,” he jokes “just stick with this one.”
But Are Celebrity Alcohol Brands Any Good?
With every celeb from Travis Scott to Vera Wang launching their own booze brands of late, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the genre is overrated. However, I’d warn you against turning your nose up at the category as a whole.
If you do, you’ll miss out on a lot of good stuff that our favourite stars have going. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s tequila, Teramana has been named ‘Tequila of the Year’. Graham Norton’s wines have won over 200 awards. And Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation Gin has a whopping list of accolades: Wine Enthusiast’s ‘Top Gin’, a gold medal in the World Gin Awards, and a gold medal from the Beverage Tasting Institute.

Needless to say, it’s worth a try.

Never fear, the actor has created a few signature cocktails using Aviation Gin. And they’re actually all worth a try! No offence, Reynolds, I just didn’t take you for a mixologist.

The Vasectomy
Ingredients:
45ML of Aviation Gin
30ML cranberry juice
90ML tonic water
Dash of lemon juice
Garnish with lemon

30ml Aviation Gin
100ml Soda water
Lime wheel
Rosemary sprig
Cubed ice
Method:
Build gin and soda in a highball, top with ice. Garnish with lime wheel and a sprig of rosemary.
Aviation Negroni

Ingredients:
30ml Aviation Gin
30ml Sweet Vermouth
30ml Campari
Orange twist
Cubed ice
Method:
Stir all ingredients over a mixing glass with ice. Strain into a tumbler that is filled with ice. Garnish with an orange twist.
